About
Welcome to Balcon by Tapavino, a culinary oasis nestled in the heart of Sydney at 17 Bligh St, NSW 2000. This vibrant dining destination amplifies the beloved flavors and spirit of its sister venue, Tapavino, offering a menu that artfully blends traditional Spanish tapas with a modern twist. With an inviting atmosphere and a commitment to exceptional service, Balcon promises an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates the essence of shared plates.
One of the standout features of Balcon is its diverse menu, where each dish reflects passion and creativity. Diners rave about the Jamon Fritto, perfectly executed to enhance the savory profile we all adore. The Croqueta del Dia is another highlight, known for its lightness and flavor that defy expectations for deep-fried starters. For those adventurous enough to try unique flavor profiles, the Anchovy Boqueron Tostada offers a delightful surprise, showcasing how simple ingredients can create a memorable taste experience.
The star of the evening, as shared by patrons, is undoubtedly the Jamon Ser coe, Balcon Curd, Seasonal Fruit. This dish melds rich and bright flavors, creating a harmonious delight that leaves diners craving more. It is here that Balcon truly shines—the combination of high-quality ingredients crafted with love highlights the notion that good food does not require complexity.
While tapas reign supreme, feedback suggests that some main courses may need refinement. The Charcoal Chicken with Salsa Brava received mixed reviews and reinforces the idea that the true gems lie within the smaller plates. “ Unreal service and amazing food at Balcon in Sydney! The steak hanged was my absolute favourite. Huge thanks to Lucas for being an outstanding waiter—he made the night extra special. Can’t wait to come back! ”
“ Exceptional meals we had such a great time here and I have to say theirs wine selection is at the highest quality with good value This visit was one of the highlight for my Sydney trip Definitely will come back next time I’m in sydney ”
“ Both the food and drinks were amazing! I’ve been to both Tapavino and Balcon, you can definitely notice some similarities on the menu but it’s not a bad thing at all. Every dish was quite delicious and everyone in our group really enjoyed it. It’s also quite good that the tapas can be ordered at a single item which made things more flexible for a group of 5. ”
“ We had a lovely dining experience here with attentive service the staff were great, always refilling our water even when it was busy. Food highlights: Jamon Fritto: Nicely done. Croqueta del Dia: Delicious and surprisingly light for a deep-fried starter. Anchovy Boqueron Tostada: An interesting surprise anchovy and bread turned out to be a great combo. Jamon Ser coe, Balcon Curd, Seasonal Fruit: The absolute star of the night! All the ingredients together were a flavour bomb. What could be better: The Charcoal Chicken with Salsa Brava and fried potatoes were a bit underwhelming sadly, the main dish was the most disappointing one, and we didn’t finish it. Dessert wasn’t my favourite either; swapping the sorbet for vanilla ice cream could make it more enjoyable. Overall, the small plates and starters shine here, but the mains and dessert could use a little work. Still, worth a visit for the great service and standout dishes. ”
“ Amazing vibes and atmosphere. I was guided to my seat and I asked for outdoor seating. The wagyu cecina was amazing, anchovy tapas delicious, striploin solomillo melted in your mouth. The service was fantastic and kept looking after us - asking if we needed anything and filled our glass when it was almost empty. There's a vast selection of wines - anything you're after, it'll definitely be there. Great for date nights or friends catch ups. ”
“ Let me start by saying how great the customer service is here. Without a doubt one of the best experiences for customer service i have experienced. For wine enthusiasts there is quite a selection to choose from as well, so if this is your thing then you will have an amazing time : ) The beers on tap were great also. The food was good overall, some dishes were exceptional such as the prawn and chorizol skewers, Patatas Bravis was also very good. ”
“ Great food and great service, the menu is not one that will let you leave hungry. There is lots of variety in the tasty morsels being served. The homemade cheese was amazing, but to be fair to all other dishes, they were all good. Service was great with food coming at a good, constant but not overwhelming pace, and advise and information offered where needed. The menu shows that good food doesn’t have to be complex, when you have great ingredients in the dishes combined with love, passion for food and a knowledge how to combine flavours. Loved it. ”
